A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

This picture represents “a man’s/woman’s best friend.” What does that mean? It means an affectionate or approving way of referring to the dog. A man and/or woman could have a best friend that isn’t human. An animal (a dog for example) is the best type of best friend you could have. They may not be able to tell you in words that they love you, but they show by their actions. Wagging their tail, jumping up when they see you at the front door, hugging you, licking your face/hands or can teach them how to say “i love you.” But there is nothing more beautiful than an animal showing affection towards a human being.

“Self-driving cars: 5 ways they could change city life”

Google’s newest self-driving car is set to hit California roads this summer and Nissan has reiterated that it hopes to have its first self-driving models on the road by 2020.  Self-driving cars could be coming soon, in spite of a few hurdles  that need to be overcome, including some safety concerns.  The reason why it could change city life is:

  1. Transit connections will be more convenient
  2. Cities won’t waste space on parking
  3. No one will need to own a car
  4. ‘Platooning’ could end traffic congestion
  5. A different way of doing deliveries

“Some bats with white-nose syndrome cured by bacteria, scientists say”

Biologists say there’s new hope for struggling bat populations in Canada following laboratory and field trials that treated white-nose syndrome with a common North American bacteria. The syndrome arrived in Canada just five years ago but it has decimated populations. It’s estimated to have killed 5.7 million bats in Canada and the United States. The fungus attacks bats when they’re hibernating, penetrating their skin, causing dehydration and burning off the fat reserves they rely on to survive the winter.

My Advice

My advice to those who are entering grade 10 this year is to never try to fit in with everyone. Always try to stand outside of the crowd. Don’t be too quick to judge. Don’t value first impressions highly. Don’t dismiss a person or idea too early just because you immediately get a bad impression from it. You will miss many opportunities because something seems bad at first impression, doesn’t mean it is bad. Try to give everything a fair chance. Don’t hold grudges because it is intended to hurt the others, but it hurts you equally. Spending your high school years focusing on the tension between you and another person is not pleasant. Don’t get into drama. If the problem doesn’t involve you, don’t get involved. As tempting as it seems to get in a conflict, mediate, take sides, and try to resolve it, it just isn’t worth it. It may give you enemies, it is a huge waste of time, and it produces no benefits for you. Have respect for authority no matter how much you may dislike them at the time, just remember that parents and teachers care about you and are only doing their job. Don’t be a victim of fads wearing the latest fashion, getting the newest electronics, getting a popular haircut and so on. Fads don’t matter in a few months and they are not in your interest – only in the interest of giant corporations who market to the masses. Don’t try to please everybody because there is no way you can please everybody or get everybody to agree with you. But one thing that is mostly important I can give advice to you about high school is… hard work pays off and attendance. Be sure to be at school every day and do your best. Don’t worry about others in your class. They won’t get you far in life. Only you can get far in your own life.

Quotation That Represents Me

Stay-Strong

“Stay Strong.”

This quote represents me because like everyone else, I went through a tough time in life.  Being strong is simply about being able to persevere through extreme adversity. It can be something horrific like the tragic loss of a loved. These experiences leave us feeling weak and hopeless. But that’s no reason to stay down for long. No matter what you’re going through in life, other people just like you have gone through the same. It’s time like these you need to be strong and never give up. Staying strong is what gets you through the day from the minute you wake up and to the minute you lay your head down on your pillow at night. When life throws something at you, for example of another quote “when life throws you lemons, make lemonade” meaning, when something bad/terrible is being thrown at you, make it into something good. Stand your grounds and become stronger. Don’t let anything in life tear you down.

Political Cartoon

https://danieljmitchell.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/bloated-government-cartoon.jpg

In my opinion, this image shows about how the government is a racket that enables the politically well connected to obtain unearned wealth at the expense of the less fortunate. This doesn’t mean there’s no rich-to-poor redistribution. This image represents on how the people’s money is going to government but it is going straight to their pockets. They don’t use the people’s money for the good and better. They keep it for their purpose but don’t help with their people to make their town a better place. For example in this photo, it shows the people who are starving are giving the government food but the government isn’t doing it for them; reason that I don’t understand is why isn’t the government helping out the people who are in need of food, water and shelter? They have all the money, right? Why not help them, make them happy and save their lives.
